I am Cynthia Coronado: a Retired Section Chief and Master Peace Officer. I retired from Dallas Fire-Rescue with approximately 25 years of experience in Law Enforcement and Fire Service. My career consisted of Fire Investigations, Fire-Related Criminal Investigations and Administrative (Internal Affairs) Investigations. I have over 20 years experience as a Polygraph Examiner. As a Spanish-speaker, I am able to conduct polygraph examinations in Spanish when warranted. I understand the critical role that integrity plays in public safety.
Polygraph is a form of threat mitigation. Applicants for a position in Public Safety (Police/Fire/EMS) are subject to a Pre-Employment Polygraph Exam
Pre-Employment Polygraph Examinations are utilized to verify that the background information disclosed is truthful and free of omissions.
Disclosures made to the Polygraph Examiner by applicants are often demonstrative of behaviors that could become liabilities for departments and by extension a threat to Public Trust and Employee Relations.
There are aspects built into the polygraph process to ensure that each person subjected to a polygraph is in the appropriate condition to undergo an exam. Polygraph examinations conducted in an assembly-line manner are ill-fated and are a disservice both to the person being polygraphed as well as to the agency requesting the examination.
At the time of scheduling, the person will be advised: how to prepare for a polygraph examination, what they need to bring, and will be given an approximation as to the duration to complete the examination.
After the examination, the Examiner will provide the agency requesting the exam, a polygraph report. The report will include a summation of the process, admissions and declarations as well
Criminal Specific examinations will include a consultation with the assigned detective or investigator prior to scheduling a date and time.
